Maiya has been an Architectural consultant of various design projects in Canada and Kathmandu for more than twenty years. She received her second Master of Architecture degree from University of Manitoba, Canada.

Maiya is a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Charleswood.  She is member of the Open University of Nepal Initiative, resource mobilization committee and Vice Chairperson of OUNI event Organization committee MB.  She was Vice- President of Nepali Cultural Society of Manitoba, Canada for 2007-2011

Maiya is member of The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and was a board member of Society of Nepalese Architects.  She was Principal of consulting company Building Design Service and Managing Director of Office Materials Pvt. Ltd, Kathmandu.
