Cam King

Cam started out as teacher. Then joined the Canadian Red Cross for 29 years, (10 years as the Division's Water Safety Director, 2 years as Assistant Commissioner and the last 17 of those as the Commissioner (Executive Director) for the Manitoba Division.) After that, he spent 10 years developing and managing  emergency management  programme for the 62 First Nation communities in Manitoba.  He was told that it is still unique in North America.

He was a Certified Association Executive (now Retired). His Rotary classification is “Emergency Preparedness”. He is Paul Harris Fellow and a Benefactor. He was the District 5550 Centennial Governor and has served as one of the Rotary International President's Representatives in 2008.

Rotary activities include: Founding Chair of the Emergency Managers and Responders Fellowship, Founding Board Member and Chief Operating Officer of the Disaster Relief Rotarian Action Group, serves on the Rotary International Fellowship Committee (Chairman-2009\2010) and the Founding Chair of the District 5550 World Peace Partners Committee. The latter is a District initiative which will bring Rotarians and youth from around the world to Winnipeg to go through the first World's  Museum totally dedicated to Human Rights. Following that, they will have scholars and professors present activities around human rights and conflict resolution issues.

He has dedicated his life to the bettterment of mankind through Church and Civic groups. Some are Emergency Management programmes, Red Cross, Church and secular youth groups, Safety Councils,  Professional Associations, Government Committees (at three levels) United Way,  Aboriginal Communities, Recreational Groups, The Canadian Museum for Human Rights/Friends of the  Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
